Dr. Akila Iyer, MD has been practicing as a general internist in the United States since 2000. She received her medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India. After moving to the United States, Dr. Iyer completed her training at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she earned the award as Best Out Going Resident for her compassion and integrity. Over the years of practice, Dr. Iyer has mentored and supervised medical as well as Nurse Practitioner students at her office. She has volunteered at the Saint Petersburg Free Clinic on a regular basis. Dr. Iyer is a Diplomate of American Board of Internal Medicine. She lives with her husband and her two sons.
