The historic Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto and Gethsemane Grotto are just across State Road 52 from Saint Leo University and Saint Leo Benedictine Abbey. Pilgrims leave their prayer intentions on small fragments of paper placed in the grotto walls. The entry is easily accessed from the Abbey Golf Course parking lot. The grottos were constructed from 1916 to 1917 from creek stones by Henry Moeller. Short walking paths lead to the grottos and meditative garden. Along the path are a Statue of the Risen Lord, commemorating students of Saint Leo who died during World War II and the Korean conflict. The tomb of Saint Leo Abbey's first Abbot (Charles Mohr, OSB, 1902-1931) is located in the Lourdes Grotto.
